LXSR is a new line of single crystal scintillators offering advantages over YAP and YAG for use in electron beam instruments where speed is not an issue.

LXSR has a very good radiation hardness leading to long life time.

In fact surface contamination is the most likely reason for a reduction in output; so we are including a FREE refurbishing certificate (strip, clean, recoat aluminum- value $150) with every retail purchase this year.

The standard thickness for LXSR will be 1 mm; however other thicknesses can be made. Thinner material (as thin as 100 um) will reduce internal asorption and yield greater light output.

The polished face is coated with a thin layer of aluminum and the back has a matte finish unless otherwise requested. Why have one side coated with 50 nm Aluminum? First of all, to prevent charging of the scintillator disc by providing a conductive path for the incident electrons. Secondly, the reflective nature of the Aluminum reflects photons generated in the phosphor back to the correct end of your detector. Lastly, the Aluminum keeps stray light from entering your detector.
